Regex Visualizer
Enter a regular expression to render a match diagram (railroad), and test text against it in real time.
About this tool
Regex Visualizer is a free online tool. Turn a regular expression into a match diagram — an intuitive way to learn and debug complex regex.
Enter a regular expression, and the tool parses the syntax structure and generates a visual diagram showing the matching logic, branches, duplicates, capture groups, etc. for each part. It can be displayed in the form of a railway diagram or syntax tree. Hover the mouse over a section of the chart highlights the corresponding general segment.
Regular parsers decompose the expression into tokens (literals, character classes, quantifiers, groups, etc.) and then build an abstract syntax tree (AST). Use JPEG to visually draw a railway diagram, with each node representing a matching state and edges representing transition conditions.
Facilitates understanding complex formal expressions, especially those written by others or copied from the Internet. Logical structures are easier to see than pure text. It is also used for teaching to demonstrate how regularization works.
A regular expression visualization tool that converts regular expressions into a graphical state machine or syntax tree to help understand complex regular expressions.
